"The sealion encounter which Boss has already posted to the website elsewhere. November in New Zealand = spring = mating season. This fella wasn't too happy at Boss & myself disturbing him & his bitches (I think that's what female sealions are called)."

"Ah yes - boating on the Avon in Christchurch. Or rather, boating IN the Avon. I wanted a nice, stable rowing boat. Boss wanted a highly unstable 2-man kayak. The inevitable arsing about resulted in us both getting dumped in the drink ; having to raise the boat from the river bed & empty it out, in front of a highly amused audience ; then having to take it back to the hire place and sheepishly relate the tale ; and finally enduring a disconsolate & squelchy trudge back to the hostel, a mile away across town. GOOD JOB, fellas!"
